What we are, and what we are not
We are not a booking site. We do not take payment, we do not issue tickets, and we cannot see, change or cancel your booking. If something goes wrong with a crossing, the operator is who you need, not us. That distinction matters and it has not changed.
What has changed is that some of the links that send you to an operator or a comparison site now earn us a commission. You pay the same either way. The fare you see is the fare you would see if you had typed the operator’s address in yourself.
Why we are telling you this
Because the whole point of this site is that you can check what we say. We tell you which crossings we have actually sailed and which we have only researched, we date the fares we quote, and we correct things publicly when we get them wrong. A site that does that and then hides how it makes money would be having it both ways.
What it does not change
Commission plays no part in which routes get covered, which get recommended, or what we say about them. A few specifics, so this is checkable rather than a promise:
- We say plainly when we have not sailed a route, even on pages that carry booking links.
- We tell you when a route is closing or gone, as with Portsmouth to Le Havre, rather than quietly leaving a bookable page up.
- We keep a page about crossings that do not exist, which sends people away from bookings rather than towards them.
- We point you at the operator’s own site for live availability, because that is where it is accurate.
- We do not run “from £X” headline fares, because they go stale and mislead.

These are commercial arrangements, not sponsorships or partnerships in any editorial sense. Nobody gets to approve, review or veto what appears on this site, and we do not describe any operator as an official partner, because none of them is.
